School, or Preschool; Five Years Teaching Experience Preferred; current Head Start staff employed by RPSB have 2 years to complete certification

JOB GOAL:Responsible for the coordinating, planning, organizing, and implementation of Head Start education and development services

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Instructional Responsibilities
1. Support the daily oversight of all aspects of the Head Start program, supervision of staff,
ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, and RPSB policies.
2. Support the development, organization, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of
all new and existing Head Start programs and initiatives.
3. Assist in establishing and promoting high standards and expectations for students
enrolled in Head Start.
4. Coordinate and assist in Head Start curriculum development and revisions; keep abreast
of new developments by serving on state, regional or national committees, membership in
professional organizations and attendance at conferences; disseminate information to Head
Start teachers and staff.
5. Preview and assist in the evaluation of new instructional materials. help in the selection
and purchase of materials suitable for the Head Start program.
6. Work with school administrators and site-based center administrators to ensure
implementation of the Head Start program and performance standards.
7. Plan, organize and support meetings with Head Start staff and teachers to disseminate
information and program objectives. Supervise all classroom practices (room arrangement,
lesson plans, daily schedules, routines, transitions) for adherence to program policies.
8. Coordinate with Head Start child care providers in the community; provide curriculum
and support as needed to ensure that students who transition to the district have been
exposed to the skills and content needed to be successful in preschool and beyond.
9. Plan, implement, and evaluate professional development opportunities, including
curriculum training, social emotional learning, student growth and assessment, and teacher
evaluation to expand and improve the skills of the Head Start teaching staff.
10. Assist Head Start teaching staff to meet certification requirements for Rapides Parish
Head Start program.
11. Supervise, evaluate, and manage staff efficiently and effectively within Head Start
policies and state mandates.
12. Coordinate the transition of children to Kindergarten; assist with the children's
transition to their next destination.
13. Work cooperatively with other Head Start coordinators to plan education services
integrated with parental involvement, health and nutrition, mental health, and disabilities.
II. Professional Responsibilities

and meetings, and board and parent meetings as requested.

K. Establish and execute a professional growth plan and self-evaluation plan in accordance with
the Rapides Parish School Board Personnel Evaluation Plan.
L. Perform other duties as required by job or requested by Head Start Director.
